First place First place in the De Anza league was captured by the Saratoga girls tennis teams after finishing its sea- son undefeated with a very impres- sive 15-O season record. In the finals Saratoga dominated with all their finalists placing in the top three for all league. The finalists captured by girls' tennis all league were Lisa Wolff, Britton Patridge, Vicky Destin, Holli Rosen- berger, Mary Wray, Vicky Pochari, Cheryl Mallen, Karen MacKinnon, Sabrina Pena, Carla Vandermate, Cindy Tenleldam and Maggie Wright. Saratoga took first place in every division in the league. The girls tennis teams were under the supervision of coaches Marti Peetz, and Tina Kellogg. There are 28 members in the combined JV and varsity tennis teams. Of those 14 were returning from last year's squad, with a total of ten senior members. ABOVE: V. Pochari, D. Mallen, T. Sheehan, A. Gymnasts come back strong This was the first year that the De An- za League had made a full recognition of the two different competitive teams in Gymnastics. Our compulsory division was turned into the J.V. team, and the optional division was made into the Var- sity Team. Under the new concept to- wards their own championship in their respective divisions. The backbone of our team came from the 16 returning gymnasts. We gained a tremendous amount of new strength from the 15 newcomers. Gymnastics has always maintained an outstanding record and level of excellence at Saratoga. Under the conditions of a lengthy season, 4 full months, plus beautiful spring weather tempting us to the beach - each member of the team maintained the perseverance and courage it takes to compete in the difficult and daring sport of gymnastics.
