Journalists expend time, effort While the school newspaper, the Falcon, takes only about ten minutes to read, well over ten hours of work are put into each issue. Any member of the journalism class can attest to this fact, they are the ones responsible for all of the writing and production work ex- cept for the final printing, which is done at the district office. Staff adviser Mr. George Scott maintains an informal atmosphere in the classroom, giving the editors some freedom to experiment and learn by trial and error. Almost everyone is constantly working, but there is no one busier than than the editor and chief typesetters who have, on occasion, stayed at school until 7 p.m. adding finishing touches to the paper. Although the official journalism class doesn't begin until fifth period, many staff members are in PO6 during lunch to help out with the typesetting, headline-making, proofreading or to finish up Top Left, Business Manager Ann Skid- more. Whether it is brought on by the mutual responsibility of getting a paper out, or the informality of the class, or the common interest in journalism, there is a closeness among staff members that can't be found in other classes. Some of the more dedicated staff members also share a kind of unique craziness. lt's not an uncommon sight to see Martin Tuttle mumbling a passage from The Wizard of Oz after hitting a kill line on the typesetting machine for the sixth time, or editor Jeff Pelline singing Moon River while proofreading co .
