Powder Puffers finally win The 1976-77 Powder Puff team started out badly with a loss to Cupertino for the juniors, and a tie for the seniors. Sue Gratz made the first touchdown for the junior team as she broke loose on the right side for a 45 yard run, early in the first quarter. Cupertino scored three times, but late in the fourth quarter Lori Holst hit Carol Cole on a big pass play totaling 70 yards and a touchdown bringing the score to 14-18. The Falconettes still stood a chance but the clock ran out when they were on the Cupertino 14 yard line. The only score in the seniors' game was made by lrene Economy on a run around the left side. After this game the juniors and seniors combined forming one team. Cupertino wanted a rematch in which they defeated Saratoga once again. After Christmas vacation the Saratoga Falconetts faced the Los Altos Knights, in which they got their first win in Saratoga Powder Puff history, with a final score of 27-13. The first touchdown was made on a 15 yard pass play from Yvette Forcier to Carol Cole early in the first quarter. Followed, touchdown runs by lrene Economy and Liz Reardon and another pass from Yvette Forcier to Sheri Wenzel. Then they faced the Lynbrook Vickings in which they lost 7-2. The Falconettes went on, to play St. Frances and a game tourna- ment. The Powder Puffers played extremely well especially the de- fense headed by big, tuff, Nancy Head, Jennie Takahashi, Holly Richards, Marlene Anderson, and Julie Larson. -Carol Cole and Sue Gratz Left, Who's got the ball? anticipates junior and senior Falcons. Senior wrestlers provide leadership The Falcon wrestling team was a very young team this season. The majority of the wrestlers were under- classmen and both the varsity and junior varsity coaches were new to Saratoga High. Five seniors, Joe Milazzo, Andy Morocco, Greg La- hann, Brad Davis and Travis McNulty, provided lead- ership and help to the younger members of the squad. The team laid the groundwork for the future. The junior varsity had a good season and most of these wrestlers will return as members of the varsity of '78. -Bill Drennan I personally think wrestling is a very-well, a gross sport-to put it bluntly. As I was getting my daily Zemi, I could see through the door leading into the small gym where the wrestling team were practicing their skills. I somehow recognized a couple of my friends and started to watch them. What a horrible, rough sport I thought. Exhausted, but looking satisfied after a well-won wrestle, Cy Tabari, Roger Prince and Scott Nielson all came over to have a sip of my Zemi, I told them what I thought of their sport and they quickly told me that I was com- pletely wrong. It's a sport of skill, they told me. While you're wrestling, you have that guy's life in your hands- one little tug and that could be it. After that comment, I decided l'd better not argue with them. - S.B.I. Opposite Page: Varsity: Row Two, Coach Bill Drennan, V.Milazzo, J.Milazzo, T.McNulty, R.
