Powder Puffers finally win The 1976-77 Powder Puff team started out badly with a loss to Cupertino for the juniors, and a tie for the seniors. Sue Gratz made the first touchdown for the junior team as she broke loose on the right side for a 45 yard run, early in the first quarter. Cupertino scored three times, but late in the fourth quarter Lori Holst hit Carol Cole on a big pass play totaling 70 yards and a touchdown bringing the score to 14-18. The Falconettes still stood a chance but the clock ran out when they were on the Cupertino 14 yard line. The only score in the seniors' game was made by lrene Economy on a run around the left side. After this game the juniors and seniors combined forming one team. Cupertino wanted a rematch in which they defeated Saratoga once again. After Christmas vacation the Saratoga Falconetts faced the Los Altos Knights, in which they got their first win in Saratoga Powder Puff history, with a final score of 27-13. The first touchdown was made on a 15 yard pass play from Yvette Forcier to Carol Cole early in the first quarter. Followed, touchdown runs by lrene Economy and Liz Reardon and another pass from Yvette Forcier to Sheri Wenzel. Then they faced the Lynbrook Vickings in which they lost 7-2. The Falconettes went on, to play St. Frances and a game tourna- ment. The Powder Puffers played extremely well especially the de- fense headed by big, tuff, Nancy Head, Jennie Takahashi, Holly Richards, Marlene Anderson, and Julie Larson. -Carol Cole and Sue Gratz Left, Who's got the ball? anticipates junior and senior Falcons.
