The level of achievement by the students allows them to compete successfully with college students in the area of technical illustration. Saratoga High students from the drafting program are in demand for related jobs in industry. Some com- panies come to us and ask for our students because of their broad technical background and the craftsman- ship they possess. The students who go on to higher education are usu- ally given the option to take advanced courses in the drafting area. This allows them to take more advanced training and specialized courses sooner than normal. -Gerald Hansen We are failing to focus on the spiritual resources within us and our universe which were so much a part of the perspective of the founders of this great revolu- tionary process we call the U.S.A. To expect Saratoga High School to swim up stream and provide any kind of beacon light shining on the great ethical principles which can shape men's lives would probably be to ex- pect the impossible. Yet this impossible dream, this small ray of hope is what brings me back on Monday mornings. -William L. Newman Jr.

The following are an approximate statement of my personalperspechve ofthe process we caH Saratoga Fhgh schooL At this point in time Saratoga High seems to be drift- ing DOWN STREAM in a larger national process. As a people we U.S. Americans are more and more electing to turn backs on the beautHuIchaHenge maced on our backs by the courageous vhhonanes of the penod in whkfiourcounhy wasfounded. We seem to be replacing the values of life, liberty and justice for all, with those of pleasure and convenience. We are failing to develop our awareness about the HIGH COST of supporting our pleasure and conven- ience. We are not really helping each other or our young peopm to devdop concern about how very ex- pensive our life style is in terms of misery and oppres- sion of our fellow human beings at home and abroad. We are not helping each other to develop an awareness and concern about ways we can begm to show our respectforthe deHcate bmance ofthe wheelofnature. We are not really building an understanding of the need for the love and conwpasmon of us hurnans for our earth and for all living creatures who travel with us through space. -BHlNewnmn Nature has a NORMAN WILD Astronomy, Biology, Biology X CRAIG CARLSON Science, Biology BRUNO PILONE Chemistry delicate balance LES KISHLER Organic Gardening, Ad vanced Biology, Biology CARL WIDMER Science, Biology BILL NEWMAN Physics, Science ELWYN DORMAN Chemistry, Chemistry CSOPIWJ
