Hockey team sports new outfits The 1976 girls hockey team started off their season with a new look! Gone were the tunics of years past! This year the members of the hockey team were seen around the campus of Saratoga High School on the day of a game wearing their bright new red and blue kilts- a welcomed addition to this years team. Our coaches, Donnie Mason, and Kim Hoffschild, also new to Sara- toga this year, have worked very hard getting us ready for our season. To me team spirit is what field hockey is all about. its presence is felt both on the field and off. After a hard game, each girl feels closer to her teammates and coaches. Since hockey is a team sport, the accom- plishments of the team as a whole are measured and not any one individual's performance which adds to this feeling of team unity and spirit. This was my first year of playing field hockey and I feel l've learned a lot about the game. Our season was an experience. Like any sport, it had its ups and downs, but overall was full of fun! lt was a great way to stay in shape and make new friends. Above, Kristi Montgomery takes an aggressive stand. Poloists gain Although the water polo team did not sport an im- pressive win-loss record, both the coaches, Mike De- vine and Larry Stansfield, and the players felt the sea- son was successful. There will be many sophomores and juniors return- ing to the polo squad next year. Coach Devine feels confident that next year they will have a better win-loss record because of the overall improvement of the players in skills, attitude, and team play toward the end of the season. The frosh team, with members Scott Aal, Jeff Bier- experience ach, Keith Barna, Scott Brown, Fred Dick, Kelly Grant, Chuck Grens, Lee Hold, Tom Mallaney, Tom McLaugh- lin, and Jay Mollahan, also in its first year of play, had a learning season.
