JV football splits with 5-5 year The 1976 football season was a very good season for me as well as for the whole team. We had fun all year long even though we lost a few games. We finished the season with five wins and five losses. The record does not speak for the team. We had an excellent team, with much talent and great coaching. We worked hard all year and never gave up. When behind, we always came back, and even if the game was out of reach, we fought till the game was over. There were some dis- appointing events during the season, but we always seemed to fight back. l really respected the team and I hope the school did too. This is my only year to play J.V. football and I will remember it for a long time. -Rod Tiffee The 1976 J.V. football season was like a roller coaster ride. The season fibrilated between high and low points. Many of the low points involved injuries to many key players and other players moving away. The high points were winning key games and watching many players mature into outstanding individuals. Frosh experience rebuilding year We had three weeks to prepare for our first season game-Lynbrook, our new league rival. We went into this game with high hopes and were looking forward to an 8 and 0 year and after our 28-14 defeat by Lynbrook we could still hope for taking the league. We learned a lot from our first game, we learned that we were small and that the most spirited team didn't win the game. Our young coaching staff, Al Elenson, Paul Quickard, Shivelly and Randy Cone, was led by the old man of the group George Thibaut. After our loss to Fremont we were ready to start the season. We lost our first season game to Monta Vista. But hard working quarterback Lyndy Meggs had per- fected a beautiful scramble. With great defensive efforts we were able to beat Lynbrook in our fifth sea- son game 2O-14.
