output but was injured in the second half of a game in which he managed to pick up 170 first-half yards. Travis McNulty and Randy Cone also added strong reserve sup- port. The team was quarter-backed by Jebb Johnson and Mike Heinrich, who were capable quarterbacks in the situations when the run failed. Against Del Mar the aerial attack accounted for 192 yards on ten completions. John Kitts and Courtney Smith were a couple of the Falcons' key receivers, who accounted for a good portion of the scoring. , , . . . . . .W :wif b- -gill .. .523 Football The defensive unit was a well coordinated unit led by Scott Mathisen, Doug Raisch, Tom Kittleson, Dave Holt- camp, and Phil Ward. K? Football Saratoga's junior varsity had the best season of all the football teams, finishing with a record of nine wins, no losses, and a tie. We functioned as a total unit, with everyone pulling for the team rather than for personal glory, explained head coach Mike Costanza. The lone tie came against Leigh in a game in which the Falcons held a shutout until the final seconds of the game. The rest of the season saw the junior varsity go undefeated in league play, with a pre-season victory over Leland. The team was led by junior quarterback Rob Snyder and junior running back Matt Courtney who had a fine season featuring a 172 yard pro- duction against Campbell. This did not include an 80-yard touchdown run which was called back due to an untimely penalty. Steve Worman did a good job going both ways, playing defensive back and offensive receiver. Dave Cullinane played fullback and Hector Mon- tez squared off at center. Jon Templeton and Vince Milazzo were tackles and Paul Bressoud and Bob Pitman were linebackers.
