Bands arching Band Wins Again and Again 'Presenting the 190 piece Sara- toga High School Marching Band un- der the direction of Craig Northrup with drum majors Steve Belomy and Regan Davis! ' The band filled the field of the Oakland Coliseum on No- vember 16, 1976, featured at the Oakland Raiders - Cleveland Browns game. Unfortunately, though hoped, the half-time show wasn't televised. Another big moment for the band was at the Los Gatos Parade. They won the highest award in band com- petition, the Sweepstakes trophy. Junior Jan Van Over said, tPeople were very disappointed when they announced first place to another band. But, it was exciting because we never expected to winl' Senior William Hilton summed it up by saying, 'We won! We wonl' That's a good way to sum up the entire march- ing season. -Marybeth Travis OPPOSITE PAGE, TOP: Saratoga High School Marching Band struts down the streets of the village during Saratoga's annual parade. Choirs and Orchestra Mr. Page Teaches Students Professionalism Like any group, the school orches- tra is made up of all kinds of individ- uals with a variety of interests in ad- dition to music. It's wonderful ex- perience to be in a class where every- one can come together for the sole purpose of exploring and enjoying music. Mr. Paul Page, a young dedicated teacher manages to make each day a learning as well as enjoyable musical experience for all. He makes an effort to teach us the value of acting pro- fessionally meaning being on time, not chewing gum, putting feet flat on the floor and being reasonably seri- ous. When our group is on stage with the lights and audience, all our early morning rehearsals are made worth- while. -Julie Boswell THIS PAGE, TOP: The choir ensemble of 1976 is recorded as largest in Saratoga High School history.
