Publications Falcon and Talisman Staffs Are Combined A new dimension has been added to the publications department at Saratoga. For the first time the news- paper, Falcon, and yearbook, Talis- man, staffs have been combined to form one big publications staff. Ad- vised by Mr. George Scott the larger staff has many advantages over the former system. It is a fantastic oppor- tunity for the artistically, creatively, writing, photography, or communica- tions minded person to obtain ex- posure to the field of publications at an early age. Students who have par- ticipated in the class have been given a touch of the many and varied frustrating experiences one goes through in the making of the paper or yearbook. Yet in the end, there is al- ways the reward of seeing and shar- ing a part of your own work in print. THIS PAGE, TOP LEFT: Scott Sherman, second semester Falcon editor-in-chief. Senior Citizens Day Students and Senior Citizens Share Experiences Senior Citizens' Day was a unique experience. It was a chance for sever- al people residing at Odd Fellows home to view our school system, which has grown and improved im- mensely since they had attended high school. For the students, it was also a chance to see some facets of Saratoga that they had never been exposed to before. While being served coffee and donuts, the 12 guests spent their first hour on campus watching a slide show designed to convey the whole picture of a district high school stu- dent in every aspect of school. Next, each guest was assigned a host to guide him around the campus to drop in on some of the classes of his choice. On display were the home ec. classes, where the lady visitors ad- mired student-made breadbaskets, baby clothes, and bottle dolls. For most, a trip to the band room, auto and wood shops, biology, and busi- ness department rooms were also in- cluded in the tour. I've never seen anything like it, one impressed lady said, and that seemed to sum up the attitude of the guests. The hosts also spoke favorably about the experience. It was super, Matt Taylor, ASB vice-president said of the program. We learned as much or maybe more than they did, and it was helpful to us both. Mrs. Ann Irwin, organizer of the entire project, is eager for a repeat performance. The student and guest response was so positive that I do hope that students will organize similar day in the spring. It was a thrill to see the joyful faces from the students and senior citizens as they exchanged experiences. 'ug
