I think my most memorable exper- ience throughout high school was where I was selected by my teachers and Mr. Zappelli to represent Sara- toga at the 1975 Girls State session. I wish every girl could have gone through what I did because I learned so much and met so many girls. Most people here don't even know what Girls State is. Basically, Girls State is run by the auxiliary of the Ameri- can Legion, and consists of 500 girls from all over California. Upon at- tending the session each girl is taught the aspects of politics and the re- sponsibilities put on a politician. Seniors Then each girl is given the chance to run different positions from mayor to govenor of the Girls State.
