ldeployed aboard USS JOHN F. KENNEDY ICV 671 for one North A second generation Naval Aviator and Intruder Pilot, Commander ?Vogt was bom in Pensacola, Florida, and commissioned an Ensign with lthe Class of 1972 from the U.S Naval Academy. His initial sea assignment saw him deployed to the Mediterranean as fNavi gator aboard USS CONNOLE CDE 10561 where he eamed Officer :of the Deck COOD1 qualifications. He was awarded his wings in May 1974, and after A-6 replacement pilot training with Attack Squadron FORTY-TWO, reported to Attack Squadron TI-IIRTY-FOUR and Atlantic and two Mediterranean deployments. In October 1977, he reported to Air Test and Evaluation Squadron FIVE at Naval Weapgns Center, China Lake, CA as Laser Guided Weapons Test Director and A- 6E CTRAM1 Project Pilot. During his tour he developed tactical deliv- ery procedures for Laser Guided Bombs, and flew operational evaluation flights in the A6-E CTRAM1 aircraft which led to fleet introduction of this expanded weapons system capability in 1979. Following refresher training with Attack Squadron FORTY-TWO, he received orders to Attack Squadron T1-IIRTY-FIVE, where he subsequently deployed to the Mediterranean aboard USS NIMITZ CCV 681 and participated in the initial sea trials and work ups for USS CARL VINSON ICVN 701. ln October 1982, Commander Vogt was ordered to the U.S. Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island, where he completed the Naval Command and Staff curriculum, and eamed an MS Degree from Salve Regina College. Following additional refresher training with Attack Squadron FORTY-TWO, he reported to Attack Squadron FIFFY-FIVE in June 1984, and served as Safety, Maintenance, and Operations Officer. While deployed aboard USS CORAL SEA CCV 431, he participated in air strikes against Libyan targets in March and April 1986 in retaliation to state sponsored terrorist activities. Detaching from Attack Squadron FIFTY-FIVE in January 1987, he reported to Attack Squadron SIXTY-FIVE as Executive Officer and took command as TIGER ONE in ceremonies at NAS Oceana in August 1988. Following his third consecutive deployment aboard USS CORAL SEA CCV 431, he relinquished command of the Fighting Tigers in Febmary 1990, and reported to the staff of Commander Naval Air Forces Atlantic. After a brief stint as Medium Attack Readiness OflicerlAX Project Officer, Commander Vogt was ordered to USS SARATOGA CCV 601 in July 1991. Following Engineering training at Surface Warfare Officers Schools Command in New- port, RI, he reported aboard SARATOGA as Executive Officer in January 1992. Captain tSel.1 Vogt has logged 4,550 flight hours lover 4,000 in the venerable Intruder1 and 1,170 carrier landings during nine deployments. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal 12 gold stars in lieu of third award1, Air Medal Cwith combat V 1, Navy Achievement Medal, and various Unit and Expeditionary awards. Commander Vogt is married to the former Sharon Kathryn McLaughlin of Pensacola, Florida. They reside in Mayport, FL
