Although the South Florida Boxing champoinship was won by Arcadia the tournament was a success for the Sarasota Sailors. Jack Bispham. heavyweight. knocked out a Punta Gorda boy in two min- utes of the first round and Joe Leatherman, light heavyweight, knocked out Houze of Palmetto. George Teeters, Ralph Healey and George Hilton put up good performances. All of the Sailors came out with- out a single injury. The athletic association's new portable boxing ring did not arrive in time for the boys' work-out. A meet was scheduled for February 21 here with Plant City when the S250 boxing ring was used for the first time. Plant City was the winner. Two events of local contestants followed after which the fights were discontinued because of other sports and lack of interest. l'I'hirty-eight!
