Front Row: LaPan, Leetch Mac Cre gor. This year's junior Class is settin new standards for all future eleventh graders. Our efgorts to fatten up the already bulgin treasur have taken the form of several dances. The Snowflake Frolic in mid-winter showed the rest of the school what social successes we are. Everyone is waiting eagerly for the Prom, which will top off an exciting, eventful year. The junior Play, Tattletale, showed the doubters that we were as adept on the stage as we were in sports, classes, and the cafeteria. Don't think we stumbled on King Solomon's mines during the year - - - those gorgeous creations are the class rings. However, we're saving most of our strength for the invasion of study hall next year. The Class of '52 will be the greatest! UNIUH5 CLASSES W-P SUPHIIMUHES -111 All for one and one for all sums up the moral of the Class of '53. Their first dance held in October, The Dais Mae Drag, was a great success. The girls went after a man in a more football than feminine fashion andlmany came up with a partner. The Sophomore Soiree, which was presented in March, proved that the male of the species is always inferior to the female. fThe boys just didn't seem to be as enthusiastic about getting a mate as the girls did.l The Sophomores have accomplished much in their Sophomore year and just watch their smoke next year and the year after. PHESHME Again this year there is a large Freshman Class, over one hundred and thirty-five. Indeed a handful for any teacher, but Miss Seymour manages them ably. hey P Y s P ,- tendance this year, and although most of the class IS in the fourteen-fifteen age group, it is well represented on athletic teams. At an early class meeting Miss Baker and Mr. George were chosen as class advisors. In February the Freshman Class held a skating arty and had dancing afterward in the gym. This, the greshman Ho , and other successful activities helped to make the Fpreshman year one to remember. ADVISORS AND OFFICERS Back Row: Miss Baker, Mr. George Lelb Front Row: Ryan. Smilh. Whether playing snappy marches or stately classi- cal pieces, our band can t be beatenl Under the capable direction of Mr. joseph Boland, the band has obtained top honors in State and Northem New York Com- , petition. For the past two years we have entered state compe- I tition in Potsdam and both times have won high rating in our class. The Band and Majorettes have ained much distinction in marching competition and are the highlights of many parades, both locally and out of town. Besides playing for many assemblies, we take part in two annual concerts which are resented in the school auditorium. This is coming from our own seven Varsity cheerleaders. Attired in their red skirts and white sweaters, they lead the sport fans in cheers. Early each Spring, selection of cheerleaders is made through a series of tryouts. Any girl who is going to be in senior high school is eligible to compete. The head cheer- leader is selected by popular choice. It is up to the cheer- leaders to kindle enthusiastic student spirit at pep rallies, as well as to direct cheering at the games. This ear's football team didn't fare as well as last year's, but it was one of which we should be roud. Last year the Redskins nearly won the football championshi , winning four, losing two and tying one. gut when gaduation came, the team lost seven starters. his left quite a gap to be filled, but Mr. Sul- livan and Mr. Dolat did a fine job in using what material they had to the best advantage. Though lacking experience and reserve strength, the boys never gave u until the final whistle had been blown. They worked hard and practiced every school day from four o'clock until seven, whether it was rainin or the sun was shining. What the team lacked in experience and depth, they made up for in spirit. Though the team won only two ames this yes, you can be sure that theygll be trying twice as hard next year. So here's hoping they will collect many scalps in the future. S.L.H.S.
