AND WITH COUNSEL FROM MR. CHARLES T. COWAN Dear Seniors: It is my sincere hope that each of you, according to his ability, has richly developed basic academic skills, including the habit of critical thinkingg and basic social skills, including those involving democratic par- ticipation with many individuals and groups. As you approach the completion of this phase of your formal learning, I am sure you are convinced that education does not end here, but is truly a continuing, expanding, all life process. The members of this class will strike out in many directions. Try to relate your intended vocation to areas in which you have actual or potential ability, areas concerning which you are truly interested, and from which you can derive real stimulation and satisfaction in the years to come. Your chosen religious faith can be at once a pillar of strength, and a lifelong inspiration. You will further enrich your lives through wholesome recreational interests and participation in other challenging avocational fields. Each of us has been thrice blessed by inheriting a great nation, a wonderful way of life, and an o por- tunity to broadly participate in determining its pattern. One of our basic aims at school is to help you build knowledge, skill, and above all, determination to be an active, contributing participant in the process of all levels. In my opinion the justification of our aim will be in some proportion to how seriously you respond to such service as a duty as well as a privilege. I am confident the members of this class will contribute in many ways, and in important measure to the maintenance and the strengthening of our democratic processes. You have completed most of your formal responsibilities here, but we trust you will always remain part of Saranac Lake High School. Keep us informed of your progress and return to see us when it is possible. With every good wish, Seniors, for your continued success and happiness. Sincerely yours, CHARLES T. COWAN Superintendent of Schools

IN MEMORY OF.. A sincere person and conscientious teacher, who served so capably as a member of the faculty for many years. As graduation draws near, we cannot lielp but feel the loss of one who was loved by all. - Mn. STANLEY WORTHINGTON Whom we all knew and cherished as our school physician. His likeable per- sonality and genuine interest in each of us will make him live always in our hearts. Dn. CHARLES HAs1uNs
