929'g,vP The picture above shows the very fine High School building of Saranac In addition to t is building, Saranac is the proud possessor of a new elementary building, a shop, and a fine atn letic field These additions ere made possible and mandatory due to the rapid increase in enrollment during the past five years In 1945, Saranac had a total enrollment of 2U2 students Today it has an enrollment of U20 This increase is due prim arlly to tue fact that tue birtk rate has increased and that more outside districts began to send students to Saranac The one district which perhaps has added more than any other is the Clarksville district Four years ago tley began sending their high school students to Saranac T115 has helped our school considerably both educationally and athletically and we are grateful to t em Saranac offers courses for college prepar tory work and non cademic work and is accredited by the University of Michigan on a two year basis T is me ns that students may enter any college in the state without taking e trance examinations Roland Grein, Superintendent S 1 o I fx , ' A Q27 fy r, , I f ,- Q . 'Thats 93.91 how did you know U said Joy 'Well most men who let their wives buy their collars are most always about the same slze,' said the observant clerk, Hearing this conversat1on recalled memories of my high school days when Mr Tullis used to tell us about how finleially embarrased he was because he had to teach school day after day and hand all his money over to his wife I bet that Nr Tullls is still struggling to get money from his wife U feel sorry for him because his wife would never allow him a very large allowance I found Mr Grien bald headed weighing 300 pounds and still superintendent of S H S And hls ooor wife is crying her eyes out ing to get him to reduce, but he won't I found Mr Makel an auctioneer who played the violin for spuare dances 1n his scare time After traveling for some tlme in the other states time passes mo quickly than I thought and when I returned to Saranac changes had tak place Mrs Courtland McKay had acquired a new husband I needed to go to the railway statlor where I found Mrs McKay arriving from her honeymoon I heard the fO17OWlHb between Mrs McKay and her husband when they left the train Courtland said UHoney dear when we reach our destlnation to avold gosslp let us try to avoid giving the lm pression that we are newly married U Her husband answered quickly, 'All right, Courtland, you go rlght ahead and carry the suitcases and umbrellas W Now that Courtland and her husband are back in Saranac she is just as busy as ever teacnlng girls home ecc and putting on meals for other ladies husbands wnlle her own husband sits at home a gets his own meals which conslsts of food out of tin cans and boxes. Mrs Coy inspired by her practice on the Cannibal Queen is now over in Africe hunting for a Cannibal King Mrs Coy is expected to return soon whereby she will most llkely return to her occupation as a player on the University of Nlchigan football teams She plays ful back Mr Haskins is now a professor at Mlch1gan State who specialize in chickens He specializes in chickens because of his chicken ex periments conducted on his farm He feels that if he could get his chickens to lay double yolk eggs then he would get two chickens from every egg Durlng my conversatlon with Fr Haskins I discovered tha Duane Nelson was a crlmlnal attorney 1n California who was a baby sl ter in his free time Mrs McCarty is now living at Lake hichlgan teaching people how to swim during the summer Pvery winter she goes to Flordla to spen her winters but as yet hasn't found time to rest because she is con ducting night classes teaching the tourists agrlculture and taking t on agr tours In between times she coaches athletics. While on my way to Grand Raoids to participate in a May Day cel bration I came upon a queer looking animal which I took to Mr Taylo who was now a taxeder-m1s+ I felt very sure that he would be able t identify th1s queer looking creature. li D ' 0 0 ' . , s to g - I ' 1 .
