611155 flisfvry In September of 1960 the class of eighty'eight freshmen, approached with fear and anxiety, the threshold of learning. We had a great amount of learning to do in the brief four years ahead, but we were thoroughly unaware of the memorable events that were to accompany our efforts at learning. As freshmen We elected four fellow students worthy of their positions. Chosen to guide our merry group through our first perilous year were Bill Casey, president, Judy Hackett, vice- presidentg Barbara Monty, secretary, Joe Mitchell, treasurer. Our selected Student Council representatives were Sandra Gadway and Tom Canning. Funds were raised in our freshmen year by our sales of stationery, candy, and our first dance, which were all successful, bringing our funds to a total of three hundred and ninety dollars. Thus, under the guidance and leadership of our advisors, Mrs. Gardephe, Mrs. Allen, and Mr. Kenneth Davies, our freshman year was relatively successful. Our sophmore year began with the immediate election of our class officers. Chosen again for the responsibility of leadership was Bill Casey, president. His conscientious assistants were Karen Rabideau, vice-president, Phyllis LaMar secretary, Joe Mitchell, treasurer. Student Council representatives, who had advanced to three in number, were Sue Connell, Barbara Monty, and Judy Hackett. Our advisors were Mrs. Gardephe, Mrs. Chase, Mrs. Allen, and Mr. Rossi. Activities for our sophomore year included a successful rummage sale, the sale of sweat shirts and Mason candy. A food sale was in store for us and we set to work to make it a success. Our combined efforts brought us one step closer to New York City. Bill Casey was again chosen to lead our class through its third year. Also chosen were Karen Rabideau, vice-presidentg Judy Hackett, secretary, Shirley Smart, treasurer. By this time we were becoming more aware of the short time that we would remain at Saranac Central. We therefore, worked harder in order to attain our goals both educationally and financially. Our means of fund raising consisted of the 1963 Tomahawk, the Junior Prom, a dance, sale of candy, a food sale, and the sale of transparent book covers for the yearbooks. Perhaps the biggest event of our junior year was our Junior Prom. We chose as our theme Moonlight and Roses and selected Jim Ryan and Karen Rabideau as king and queen to reign. Barbara Monty, Sue Connell, Judy Hackett, Phyllis LaMar, Donna Loquask, Nancy Newell, Bob Beauchemin, Bill Casey, Wayne Chase, Gary Gambadora, Lester La Plante, Skip LaRose, Bim Ohlson, and Tom Terry made up the Court. Mrs. Grigware, Mr. Rueter, and Mr. Rossi our class advisors contributed greatly in making this, our third year, successful as well as fun-filled and exciting. As we entered our glorious senior year, our thoughts were on the success of this year, and the success of our individual futures. Our president this year was Karen Rabideau. Her vice- president was Lynn King, secretary, Barbara Caron, and treasurer, Shirley Smart. Chosen to represent the Student Council were Judy Hackett, president, Donna Loguask, vice-presi- dent, Bill Casey, Jim Ryan, and Jeff Wilson. The Athletic Council members were Sandra Gadway and Marvin Strack. Our diligent advisors were Mrs. Dann, Mr. Hammond, and Mr. Rossi. Plans were made immediately for the sale of magazines. A deadline was set and the class superceded this. Our final intake amounted to tl1e sum of nineteen hundred fifty dollars. The sale of Christmas cards followed on our annual agenda, as did a series of successful dances. As always, the seniors tried in vain to succeed in victory over the faculty in the Senior- Faculty game, but, financially, it was a great success. As we seniors file for the last time as a group through the aisles of our Alma Mater, we will remember the precious teachings that have been installed in our hearts and minds, and will pass onward to others, the knowledge that We have learned. l1Ve will remember also, our unfor- gettable motto, Today we follow, tomorrow we lead.
