Nichols Shot Put Coach Towne Sa1'anac's Spring Sports Early in the season the spikes and the bats came out and Saranac was off to a swinging start. No, we didn't win every one, but we played good baseball and we had a lot of fun. Here's for a bigger and better season next year. Our track men made several trips, some of them to competi- tion some distance away. They made an excellent showing. Ernie Collins placed high enough in pole vaulting to have a chance at the sectional Championship. 102

Wrestling Coach Freeman, Donald Goddeau, Russell Allen, Gary Allen, Billy Lechowit, John Bryant, Tom Farrell, Durward Scribner, Bobby Long, Roy Beck, Bruce Allen, Mike Perry, Jim Nichols, Steve Gagnon, Lynn Tedford. Saranac Central's grapplers climaxed an exciting campaign this year by Winning the Section 7 New York State Public High School Athletic Association Tournament, by coming from behind during the last match of the tournament and Winning by two points over Keeseville to annex the team championship. The overall record for the team in dual competition was 12 Wins, 2 losses and 1 draw, which gave them a second place finish during the campaign in the Champlain Valley League. Individual sectional champions were Ronnie Miller at 138 pounds, Tom Couture at 145 pounds, Danny Nichols at 180 pounds and Lyle Berg in the unlimited class. 101
