faaiar Varsity Basketball Displaying balance, depth, spirited team work, ability and a will to succeed, the Saranac Junior Chiefs earned a fine 15-2 record. They finished in second place in league play with 12 Wins and 2 losses. Saranac was the only team to defeat Mooers, the league leader. Many of these players should be a credit to the varsity in years to come. Wrestling Coach Freeman, Donald Goddeau, Russell Allen, Gary Allen, Billy Lechowit, John Bryant, Tom Farrell, Durward Scribner, Bobby Long, Roy Beck, Bruce Allen, Mike Perry, Jim Nichols, Steve Gagnon, Lynn Tedford. Saranac Central's grapplers climaxed an exciting campaign this year by Winning the Section 7 New York State Public High School Athletic Association Tournament, by coming from behind during the last match of the tournament and Winning by two points over Keeseville to annex the team championship. The overall record for the team in dual competition was 12 Wins, 2 losses and 1 draw, which gave them a second place finish during the campaign in the Champlain Valley League. Individual sectional champions were Ronnie Miller at 138 pounds, Tom Couture at 145 pounds, Danny Nichols at 180 pounds and Lyle Berg in the unlimited class. 101
