amlin Galtndar Q 19444945 Q Sept. 5 Once again we are back at school and assemble to give the new girls their ties. Sept. 8 We have our annual Jolly-Up and meet many new friends. Sept. 13 Charlotte Oviatt and Betsy Lynch take over the job of cheer-lead- ing. Oct. 3 Corporal Boyd and representa- tives of the Red Cross make us realize how important blood banks are to our lighting men. Oct. 6 Everyone has a wonderful time selling fand eatingj candy at the Grape Festival. Oct. I4 We're off early for Dominican to compete with other schools at the first of our Play Days. Oct. I7 The Fifth and Sixth Grades en- tertain us at an enjoyable assembly. Oct. 24 We spend a memorable forty minutes listening to Mr. Silva of the Met tell us about opera. N ofu. 3 Games and box lunches provided by the Seniors proved an afternoon of fun for the Seniors and Sophomores at their inter-class party. - N ofv. 22-27 Last night's homework is lost from our minds as we suddenly wake up to the fact that Thanksgiving Vacation is here again. Dec. 9 Due to the man-power shortage, we have Open-House at our success- ful School Dance. Dee. 12 Santa Claus Cin the person of Julianaj visits Hamlin again to give thexLower School their gifts. 1 Dee. 1 3-1 5 Shirley Neitzel and Doris Spencer are lovely as the madonnas in the annual Christmas Pageant. Dec. lj-11172. 3 Merry Christmas!! We have absolutely nothing to do for two whole weeks C or have we! ! PPD I an. 4 We smooth our middies and skirts P and find our right ties as pictures for the Epilogue are taken. Ian. 1 5-19 Candy and cookies are al- lowed in the class rooms Cdoes it really help?J as Mid-term Exams take place. I an. 22 Finals over, we realize this is the first day of the Spring Term Cother- wise known as the home stretchnj. Feb. 7 Juniors and Freshmen stuff them- selves with hamburgers, salad, and coke at the junior-Freshmen Party. Feb. 15 Dr. Newcomer of Vassar arous- es among us a new interest in Eastern Colleges. Feb. 27 Mrs. W. W. Douglas helps us to understand the Dumbarton Oaks Peace Plan at one of our most interesting Assemblies.

Feb. 28 A thrilling afternoon is spent at the Geary Theatre, where we view Othello. I Mar. 13 We enjoy hearing two of our own girls participate in a musical as- sembly. Doris Spencer sang a group of songs, and Alison Cary played several violin solos. Mar. 20 We were delighted to see Kath- erine Fobes again and to hear about the play which has been made from Mama's Bank Account. Mar. 23-April 2 It's Easter Vacation! Pencils are laid aside and books closed for a precious week of relaxation. ' April 2 Mrs. Wilson comes from the White House to give us some helpful hints on beauty care. April 21 Knees shake, but we bravely smile, and the Fashion Show for the benefit of Guide Dogs for the blind is once more a grand success. p April 25 The San Francisco Conference for World Security opens. Mrs. Stan- wood and those members of the Facul- ty and Student Body who were lucky enough to be present at the opening ceremonies came back to school deep- ly impressed. I 'x May 5' We spend a perfect day at the Claremont, watching the annual N. C. G. I. T. A. tennis matches. Rah! Rah! Hamlin! May 8 The Skylark is issued, and some of us forget our studies because we are so anxious to read it. May ll Have an all day sucker? It's the Seniors' second childhood, the an- nual Baby Day. May I2 Pity the Seniors! Yes, it's the English A exam at U. C. May 18 Great excitement! It's time to vote for new ofhcers at the Student Body elections.
