Pete The 1981 Football season looked promising with everyone showing up for 6:00 practice every morning and then returning for another 6:00 practice that evening. Although the season wasn’t one of the best, our players fought every game to the end. Each of the players showed a great deal of sportsmanship throughout every game. T. Smiles W. Smith D. Orginally from Broken Arrow, Coach Davis coached in Sapulpa and California before returning to Sapulpa to complete the first season in the new Collins Stadium. During his stay as head Coach, Davis took the Chieftains to the state playoffs — for the first time in Sapulpa's history. He returned the following year with a repeat act and went to state again. After two unsuccessful seasons, Coach Davis announced his decision to give up his reign as head coach of the Chieftains. We are fortunate to retain Mr. Davis as an instructor in our Math Dept, and we look forward to the positive input he gives to S.H.S. 116____________________________________ Bottom Row, L to R: K, Fish, A.
