Democracy in Action Tom Brown, Doug Joseph, and Jim Hodges serve students at the Snack Bar. John Caldwell was featured speaker at the President's Banquet spon-sored by the Council each spring. Student Council strives for better student-faculty relations through practice in democracy. Students have a voice in the Council through homeroom representatives elected in the spring. Council projects include Howdy Week, Now or Never Week, Bundle Week, President's Banquet, snack bar, and presentation of two $100 scholarships. Eddie Bayouth presents a plaque to Mr. Cockrum honoring SHS students who have lost their lives in service of our country. 29

The Board also sponsors two dances each year. The Youth Board had a rummage sale to raise money in the fall. The bulk of the operating expenses are provided by the Community Chest.
