Quperintendent Directs NOEL E. VAUGHN Superintendent Noel E. Vaughn came to the Sapulpa school system in 1957. During his nine years he has proven to be a dedicated man, dedicated to building a more firm foundation for the youth of his community. We, here at S.H.S. are enjoying the pleasant environment of a modern building, the security of a fallout shelter, and the beauty of an outstanding auditorium. Through the leadership of Mr. Vaughn, the students have access to a more enriched academic program. Growing with the demands of society our school has grown from forty-eight to seventy-two credits, and with each new growing pain, teachers are continually being added. School benefited when Mr. Vaughn received the first check given in Oklahoma for federal funds from State Superintendent Oliver Hodge. (Published by permission of Okla. Publishing Co., 1965) 13

Mrs. Mitchell, High School Registrar, discusses class schedules with Mr. Cockrum. Principal Guides Mr. John Cockrum, has led an active life as an educator. In 1960 he was appointed as junior high principal and in 1963 was appointed high school principal and has served in this capacity for three years. He received his Bachelor of Science from Northeastern State College and his Master of Education from the University of Tulsa. His hobbies include golf and football. He is active in all civic affairs and is always present at school activities. 14
