FAIRY TALES . . . THEY D0 COME TRUE Dreams turned to reality for many of the participants in the 1982-83 Homecoming. Each event leading up to the crowning of the Queen and King was greeted with enthusia- sum and participation by all. Santana Sultans displayed their spirit and creativity by donning truly unique outfits on each successive day of homecoming week - rangingfrom tourist day to pajama day. The week was topped off with a success- ful assembly in which A.S.B., Santana Cheerleaders and Helix cheerleaders showed us a lighter side of school life and gave us one last look at the Court before the game. During half-time, the classes led off the festivities with imaginative and realistic portrayals of several fairy tales. With curiosity and suspense filling the air, the candidates and the Honorary Princess arrived in old fashioned cars and awaited the moment which would reveal the winners. Dis- covering that they had received the lucky roses, Laura Hud- son and Bill Mottola were crowned Queen and King. The evening was then rounded out with a picturesque display of fireworks and an exciting finish to the Santana-Helix football game.

SPUTLIGH TED Long hard hours of practice every morning defi- nitely paid off for the Varsity Cheer Squad. They at- tended cheercamp, where they received two first places for pom-pom routines and a second and a third for their cheers. During the summer, the cheer- leaders also held fund raisers such as coca-cola and hot dog sales to raise money to buy their uniforms. When the school year came around, they were prepared to entertain the fans. Besides being in the spotlight to lead the cheers, they made colorful signs for the games, sent out goodies, and participated in several class competitions with the football team.
