The 1977-78 school year was a year for movin'. In September some 215 freshmen moved aboard the Pirate Ship to begin their four year journey toward graduation. In October, after months of eager anticipation we moved into three bauti- ful new facilities--the Vocational Education Building, the Little Theatre, and the Gym- nasium. It was also a year for movin' on. At the Dec- ember meeting ofthe Board of Trustees Nlr. Silva announced that after thirty three years at SYHS, he was ready to graduate with '78 and move on to a new chapter in his life. At the same meeting, Dis- trict Superintendent, David Baker, announced that he too planned to move on and would not seek to have his contract at SY renewed. lVlr. Doug Frazier, a veter- an of twenty-two cam- paigns at SY as a social studies teacher also de- cided that '78 was the year to turn in his roll book for the last time and to move on to other pursuits. At the football banquet in January, head football coach Will Stensland announced that after nineteen years we would retire from his coaching duties.

In February it was announced that Dave IVIcCullough, Dean of Students and Director of Athletics, would move into the role of SuperintendentlPrincipal effective July 1, 1978. For the Seniors 1978 marked a time for movin' ahead. To- gether for so many years, members of The Great 78 will disperse and follow their own paths into their own futures. The other classes, of course, moved along and everyone stepped another rung higher in the ladder leading to the top of the heap. 1
