10 The Homecoming Game The Homecoming week ended with the football game against Independence. All was not lost even though the Saints lost badly to the top-ranked team in the C.C.S. Still, the football team played respectably. The coronation of the homecoming queen and king took place during half-time in the football game. The members of the homecoming court were Lewis Chavez. Joe Koeplin, Steve Koch, Mike Hornsby, and Rich Vogel. The princesses were Chris Mor- phew, Joan Palmer. Kelly Reese. Chris Rosker and Cathy Toscano. Last year's Queen, Renee Blue, was there to crown Chris Rosker, this year's Queen and Rich Vogel as this year's King. I have never seen so much spirit shown by all the classes — I think that the level of enthusiasm was at an all-time high for S.T.” said Commissioner of Spirit, Audrey Sadler. shttn Dazzling smiles flashed by King Richard Vogel and Queen Chris Rosker. right:The 1982-85 Homecoming court: Lewis Chavez.Joan Palmer.Joe Koeplin, Chris Moephew. Uft: Football tong girls hold back rampaging students. aboit. The freshmen enjoy the first day of school. Opening Day An exceptionally fine school year began with feelings of anxiety, determination and high hopes. When students walked on to the campus they noticed that not only was the gym painted this fall's most fashionable color, pineapple, but so were all the other buildings. Last year's senior prank remnants still lingered about the campus. A sudden realization of obligation was strong, another year of hard work and extreme fun. The morning assembly would have been so much more exciting if the P.A. system had worked. Not that anyone cared to hear the assembly; most just wanted to watch the spirit leaders. After a long, futile attempt to read Mr. Vicrra's lips, the next challenge was to find one's class schedule. To get their schedules, many students had to wait in line for hours, outside the library. Not only did the students wait but so did some of their parents. By mid-day Mr. Ncimillcr realized that the masses were too large for the limited number of counselors to handle; he sent the overload of students and parents home. Following tradition, the school day ended early, and students eagerly left the campus. The end of opening day became the beginning of the 1982-1983 school year. Opening Day
