Arena Scheduling On August 30. 1982. the traditional mad dash for the right teachers and courses began, commonly known as Arena Schedul- ing. Although, this hectic event was well planned, most students experienced a very trying day. The seniors crowded in with scribbled schedules and hopeful expressions. They were followed, in no particular order, by other classes. The forceful and the bewildered, the determined and the haphazard, all found that a little compromise was clearly needed. All of the students wandered from table to table and pleaded with teachers and counselors for courses that they thought were imperitive for their future. The look of relief on some students' faces when they found out that Humanities II was full was in- spired sympathy indeed. Other courses that caused students some frustration were Rapid Reading — Critical Thinking, fourth period Government and Advanced Biology. Eventually the frustration, relief and final copies were all in order. The 1982-1983 school year was fixed ... on paper anyway. cum i semm Arena Scheduling

Yearbook Dedication This year's yearbook dedication is award- ed to Mr. Bill Sheehy. This kind-hearted man gives his students not only a classical education, but something just as valuable, his friendship. Bill Sheehy teaches English, but in his classroom some of the most important lessons taught arc those that the students learn about themselves. He makes students ask questions about themselves that they had never asked before. Mr. Sheehy has been teaching for many years and has developed an insight into the problems that high school students suffer from. Not only does he understand these problems, but he tries his best to help the students solve them. Bill Sheehy is very involved in school- related activities. He is an organizer of the Literary Club, and also a trustee on the Oak Grove School Board. In addition to his talents as a teacher, ad- visor and school board member. Mr. Sheehy is also an actor. He was in the San Jose Com- munity Theater production of The Un- sinkablc Molly Brown. We arc honored to have Bill Sheehy on the school staff, and very proud to dedicate the 1982-83 Compendium to such a fine man. oppoiittpngt Ufa pleased to be back to school. oppoiitt pagt top right: Sauntering off to class.
