FLOYD P. BAILEY President (pMAjLcismHsu TyUiUjoiqsL At the end of a college year it Is always advisable to take stock; to consider the things that have been done and things that have been left undone: to summarize our successes and our failures; and upon the basis of our experiences, make plans for the future. We, here at the Santa Rosa Junior College, have. I believe, just completed a very successful year. The student body, under very capable student leadership, has functioned efficiently and well. It has been the policy of the administration to give the students complete freedom in handling their own affairs, and you as students have demonstrated the fact that you are entirely capable of managing your own business. In addition to a thorough training in the fundamentals of your chosen vocation, we believe that It Is very important that you receive some practical training in how to function in a democratic society. This you learn by taking an active part in student government. Socially, athletically, dramatically, musically, and scholastically we have done well. The classroom facilities a nd offerings have been expanded and the grounds Im- proved, so naturally I have a feeling of accomplishment, If not of complete satisfaction. I feel that the future holds much for the Santa Rosa Junior College. Studies based upon birth rate increases and population shifts Indicate a large future student population. Every effort Is being made by the Board of Trustees to provide adequate facilities for all. Five more buildings are planned Including expanded gymnasium space, two classroom buildings, more shops, and a student union. Our plans also include tennis, volleyball, and outdoor basketball courts. All these additions and changes are contemplated for the purpose of providing better physical facilities and more extensive course offerings for the young people of this area. 10
