The Music Building View of the Gymnasium through the south arch Foreword Today the magazines of America play a three-fold role of great importance in our na- tional life. Through their presentation of news on national and international affairs they have made our people one of the best-informed in the world. Magazines also are becoming more and more popular in our school systems as an important tool in the educational process. In addition to their informational and educational functions they provide worthwhile entertain- ment to millions of people. We of the Echo staff of 1947 wish to pay tribute to the Ameri- can Magazine lndustry by selecting and por- traying some of the magazines that are repre- sentative of the ways of our school life.
