Mr. George A. Proctor Mr. Lloyd K. Wood President City Superintendent Board of Education of Schools Board of Education The Santa Rosa Board of Education meets once a month, and more often when neces- sary, to administer to the needs of the various schools in this district. President of the Board of Education is Mr. George A. Proctor, who has been on the board for the past ninteen years: he has been president for two years. Mrs. Helen M. Lehman is secretary: she has been a member for nine years. Mr. Archie Lockhart is the veteran of the administrative group hav- ing served faithfully for twenty-live years. Newest members of the board are Mr, Harold Bostock, serving in his third year, and Mr, Leonard A. Talbot, who has served for a year. Mr. Lloyd K. Wood, City Superintendent of Schools, works with the Board of Education in handling the educational problems of Santa Rosa. Mr. Wood has occupied the superin- tendents ofhce since 1941. Before that he served as principal of the high school for four vears. For some time past the Board of Education and Superintendent Wood have been very busy planning an expansion of the city school system to meet the needs of our increased population. This expansion was assured in the spring with the voting of school bonds which will soon convert our present four year high school to a senior high school of three years and add a three year junior high school and two new grammar schools to the present system. Mr. T. H. Battelle Mr. Frederick F. Duey Principal Vice-Principal-in-Charge Fall Semester Spring Semester Administrators The administration of Santa Rosa High School has undergone several changes in the past year. The most important of these was the resignation of Mr. T. H. Battelle in December to take a position with the State Board of Education. Mr. Battelle came to Santa Rosa in 1932 as head of the Commercial Department, which post he held until assuming the principalship nine years later. Since 1941 Mr. Battelle guided the activities of the high school wisely and well. Students and faculty alike are sorry that he is gone, but they wish him all success in his new position. After Mr. Battelle's resignation Mr. Frederick F. Duey, vice-principal, took over leader- ship of the school as Vice-Principal-in-Charge. Santa Rosa High was fortunate in having a man of Mr. Duey's caliber on hand to assume this important post. Mr. Wilfred W. Rankin mfgved from his post as Chairman of the Social Science Department to assist Mr. Duey in the o ce. f 3 pewcomer on the staff last fall was Mrs. Grace Rothert who took the position of Dean 0 If S. Additional members of the administrative staff are Mr. Rhodes Trussell, dean of boys and attendance officer: Miss Aloyse H. Sinnott, librarian: Miss Myrtle Sacry, school nurse: Mrs. Letitia B.
