MUSIC The Girls' Glee Club, under the able direction of H. Peyton Johnson, proved an active organization through- out the year. The girls entertained the assembly on sev- eral occasions and at Christmas-time sang carols at churches in town. On May 4 they sang several numbers for the American Legion in Ventura. The band added pep and enthusiasm to the football games this year with their music and parading. With H. Peyton Johnson as director, and Maxine Ireland and Nell Williams as majorettes, the band really created a name for themseves. They played at assemblies and at town functions. ln May the band held a concert in the high school gym. They also attended a festival at Santa Barbara. The orchestra wasn't as active this year as usual since they did the majority of their playing for school assem- blies.

The Dramatic Society and Girls' Physical Education De- partment presented a Christ- mas Pageant on the after- noon of December 8 for the students and parents ot San- ta Paula and others who de- sired to attend. The pag- eant was held on Jones Field, which, with appropri- ate props. provided an imaginary Green tor the colorful Old English Christ- mas revels talcing place there.
