Because ot the many problems incident to the demolition ot the old building and the construction ot the new one, student lite has been interesting it not specially easy. Perhaps this year will be lcnown to tuture historians as the year ot the Big Rain, when Fitth Street was flooded from curb to curb and water poured into the basement ot the gymnasium. More than all, however, l thinlc that this year will be remembered as a year when students and teachers co-operated most sincerely and cheertully in a common endeavor. On behalt ot the taculty, l thanlc the students tor their manifest spirit ot friendliness and good will. l con' gratulate them upon the success ot their efforts and urge them to recall with interest and pride the activities so well pictured in EI Solano. It was estab- lished for the purpose of creating a more widespread in- terest among the students in student government, and to leave each year a group more experienced in the govern- ing ofistudent affairs. The Council is composed of stu- dent body officers, elected at large. and representatives elected from All-American Problems. and English classes. The Presidents of the Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior classes also have voice in the council. Clifford Gartrell was elected Associated Student Body President by a majority of votes cast by the whole student body. He held this office through the whole year and added even more popularity to his name. This new form of government has proved effective and has governed the financial and social affairs of the school well. A representative from each Freshman English class was elected to a Freshman Council which planned the social activities, and, in general, handled the attairs ot the class. Two parties, one held in the Fall, the other in the Spring, were the main social events ot the year.
