l 'l'!1 GZIP:-'Om UlbJNDr-- all, lol TOASTMASTERS' CONTEST Santa Paula entrants in the Toast- masters' Contest were very successful this year. Vernon Duncan and Barbara Sharp were entered in the Ventura County con- test held in March. They succeeded in taking first and second places, respectively. For additional competition, they went to Santa Barbara and again showed their ability, with Vernon taking first place and Barbara Jane taking third. At the Toast- masters International, held in Pomona, Vernon took third place. The Toastmasters' contest is a comparatively new idea, but it will undoubtedly continue. This year, sixty schools entered 700 contestants. TOASTMASTERS Duncan, Sharp, Mr. Brady SERVICE AWARDS Service awards were given to Maurice Ragner, Clare Call, Stanley Davis, Don Kamachi, and Antonio Corral. Those students gave their time to ticket taking, book checking, and work in the costume room, but received little credit for all their work. The awards given were based on the student's valuable service to the school and the work he did. They were presented to the students at a student body assembly in June. in - 044461, X .W . , f e t X - ,.,.
