CI RLS' C-LEE CLUB The Girls' Glee Club had a very active year. lt provided entertainment at various times for assemblies and service club meetings, where the music was well received. The outstanding ability of the members was recognized in their performance at the Festival of Arts in April, where thev presented several fine selec' tions. Attractive outfits of white blouses and skirts with red scarfs were used as the uniform. The group was directed by Mr. H. Peyton Johnson. Miss Helen Sharp acted as the accompanist. BOYS' C-LEE CLUB The Boys' Glee Club provided successful entertainment for numerous community gatherings. An added interest was created in the Boys' Glee Club due to its performances at student body assemblies. The group proved popular at P.-'1'. A. meetings and various service club programs. The greatest achievement of the musical year was the Festival of Arts, held in April. The boys gave several fine numbers there. The Club had a membership of twenty- two boys. lllr. H. Du Yin jUhHOR ORCHESTRA Students taking orchestra this year were divided into two groups, a junior and a senior group. Approximately I8 students who had had very little or no pre- vious experience made up the junior orchestra. The main purpose of this group was to teach any student who was interested in an instrument how to play it, and also to produce material for the senior orchestra next year. lllembers of the junior orchestra were: Kathleen Branch, Vir- ginia Foster, Gertrude Fudge, Patricia fXIcPherson, Dorothy Rolls, Sarah Sonora, violins, llfay Duarte, Jean Hardison, Yale Richard' son, clarinetsg Roberta French, flute: Rudolph Aparicio, Laurence Gutierrez, saxophonesg Delbert Wheeler, trumpet: Robert Spear, tromboneg Joe Herrera, Le Roy Renfro. bass horns: Klarcene Hitch, drumsg Julia Hue-rta, piano. BAND The band deserves a great deal of praise and thanks this year. It added pep to all of the football games and rallies, and played in parades and in the Festival of Arts program. On Klay 10, it ap- peared in a Festival of School Bands in Santa Barbara, where Santa Paula competed against bands from Ventura, Fillmore, Carpen- teria, and Santa Barbara. Directors from each school led their own bands in one number, then the four bands were combined, and each director led the combined bands. BAND Hack row-Kelsey, l.. li. Keller, hloy, I.cSchoIs, Hart. A. Sharp, 'l'. fall. BOYS' SEXTETTE Klemhers of the Boys' Sextette sang for the Rotary Club, Lions' Club, and P.-'I'.A. The six boys were chosen from the regular Glee Club. They had a very successful year despite the fact that their class time was limited. The group was composed of Le Roy Renfro, Charles Hyde, Gordon Walden, Kenneth Pollock, Vernon Duncan, and lfdmond Buster. GIRLS' TRIPLE TRIO The Girls' Triple Trio, selected from the Glee Club, sang on various occasions, and at the lfbell Club program on Hay IO. The girls sang songs of other lands and wore the native costumes of those countries. The group was composed of Betty Taylor, Beatrice Kel- ler, Sarah Teague, Iirst sopranosg Uelphine Joy, Helen .lean Shipley, Theda Call, second sopranos: Anita Sharp, lfvelyn Le Schofs, Ger- trude Hart, altosg and Helen Sharp, pianist. ' BRASS ENSEIVIBLE A brass ensemble composed of Vernon Duncan, lfdmond Bus- ter, and Arthur VV:1rren, trumpets: -lobn lfaltin, trombone: Charles Hyde, baritone, Kenneth Pollock, bass horn: and Helen Jean Ship- ley, pianist, was organized this year. The group played for many of the service clubs and church organizations. Xlembers of this group used their efforts to malce P.,-'I'.A. meetings and Teachers' Institute more enjoyable.
