HI-Y Broadening the scope of its activities this year, the Hi-Y held two county meetings here, to which Santa Barbara, Ventura, Fill- more, and Carpinteria sent delegates. The club also held an alumni meeting during the Christmas holidays. Representatives were sent to a joint meeting held at Santa Barbara in January. INTERNATIONAL CLUB lllembers of the International Club did their part in promoting world fellowship throughout the year by corresponding with students in twenty foreign countries. Delegates from Santa Paula were sent to the world friendship conference at Oxnard. Another convention was held at the North Hollywood High School, hlay IS. Several students from here attended the affair. VARSITY CLUB Having as its purpose the promotion of sportsmanship and in- terest in athletics, the Varsity Club held weekly meetings this year before each game. ln February, six new members were initiated into the club. At the Parent-'lleachers' Carnival, the club sponsored a successful booth. All boys who made letters in varsitv sports are eligible for membership. CI RLS' ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION Among the activities of the Girls' Athletic Association this year was the sponsoring of a county play day at this school in the fall. Nine schools sent teams to participate. G.A.A. members also took part in the County Armistice Day parade, taking first prize in their division. FRENCH CLUB The French Club was organized during the second semester. Due to this fact, its activities were limited. However, the members of the club presented a fine display of puppets in lllay. First-year students made their puppets to represent some of the characters in fairy tales. Second-year students used the characters from the French story, Sans Familie . Each student was supposed to have a correspondent in France. A beach party finished the year of activities. STAC-E CREW Illembers of the stage crew get lots of hard knocks and receive no thanks for their eitorts. The stage crew may be called the con- necting link between the actors and the audience. lt is the duty of those taking stage-craft to arrange all stage settings, produce sound effects, get properties, arrange lighting effects, and prepare all cos- tumes. Under the supervision of lXIr. Arthur C. Brady, the stage crew workers made all the scenery for the senior play, assemblies, Festival of Arts, and the one-act play, Neighbors .
