-ff, 1-If 0din's Cdyssey lt was finally here - the event everyone had worked, planned, worried about and waited patiently for - Homecoming! The two day social whirl began with a lunchtime festival in the quad. The Sophomore Class Board organized and staffed a booth where Vikes tried their luck at shooting candles with a water pistol and guessing the number of candies in a jar. Financially, the booth was a flop, raising a grand total of 32.80. But who could think of money when it was so much fun? The Junior Class sponsored a water balloon throwing contest: it was great for relieving aggression! One of the highlights of the day was the great tug- of-war upset. The band destroyed both the rope and the op- postion - A.S.B. and several star football players. The Biology Honor Society raised the most money and the most indignation. To the highest bidder, the Society offered the chance to em- barrass a friend with a pie in the face. Thursday night showed just who the dedicated really are! Bleary- eyed and bone-tired students stayed up far into the night: quite a few even saw the sun come up. They decorated floats la littlel and laughed, flirted, ate, and talked la lotl. Out of all this confusion came some beatutifully designed floats and a traditionally artistic t.p. job on the quad by the Class of 1976. The smell of sausages and pancakes rose along with the sun Friday morning, as hungry hordes of Vikings waited eagerly for a delicious breakfast served by A.S.B. The size of the crowd-and their appetites - surprised the one cook: the line wrapped around the cafeteria and stretched to the administration building! This caused a slight delay in dispensing the goodies, but the waiting was borne good naturedly by all.

' '-. ll+ Friday at noon, Samohi students and alumni crowded the Greek Theater, eager to see the crowning of Odin's queen. Besides the usual pep rally festivities, the winning floats were awarded prizes. The Seniors carried off the First Sweepstakes honor. and the Sophomores captured second place. The Sophomores didn't have much time to admire their handiwork: soon after the rally the float went up in flames. The Orchestra was the proud and deserving recipient of the Door Prize, a real door presented to the hardest workers. Mr. Aubrey Austin, president of nearby Santa Monica Bank, was installed ceremoniously into the Hall of Fame. He is an alumnus of dear ol' Same and imparted some traditional Viking spirit to the crowd. After bestowal of these various honors, the seven Princesses, along with their escorts, were presented. Finally, The Moment arrived! Mr. Pearson and two tiny crown-bearers came forth. Mr. Pearson took the crown and walked toward the seven nervous girls. He stepped forward. hesitated a moment, then gently placed a kiss on Queen Kathy. And the excitement had just begun . . . l i ., All 59- ' I W 1 5 il iaith rx M' +A: ig., 4 t -wfff fw- -f +1522 38291.11 .. ,N K R
