Samo's Mascots High point of most of the pep rallies and half-time activities were the antics of this year's Victor and Vicky Viking, alias Bobby Herron and Kim Steensen, respectively. Along with suits made out of 17 rabbit skins, devouring microphones, and questionable yells, they made for a little levity usually not inherent in Samohi. j.V. Yell Leaders The eight I.V. Yell Leaders of 1973-1974 pepped up the sometimes laggard and other times non-existent crowds that followed the ever unpopular non-varsity squads from school to school. From Missy's shades, to Ingrid's 5'9 frame, they kept the show on the road both on the field and at the noontime pep rallies of which they were an important part. While not as visible as the over-powering Varsity Yellers, the I.V.'s always did come up with good routines. JV YELL LEADERS: tTop, L. Varsity Yell Leaders l YELL LEADERS QL. To RJ: Patti Keeler, Bet- : ty Smith, Sue Prey, CeCe Sanders, Joe Juarez, Debbie Newell, Carmen Schade. Back: Iohn t Howe. In the course of a year's time, it is awfully hard to avoid noticing the core of Indian l-lill's spirit groups: the varsity yell leaders. Ostensibly under the guiding hand of the dean's office, the eight of them usually had to fend for themselves when it came to money and transportation. Putting a tremendous outlay for uniforms, they still managed to send themselves to yell camp and capture the spirit stick for the second year running. Yell Queen CeCe Sanders planned, with the others help, the pep rallies and halftime show that kept the student body entertained and provided the extra push to victory. Toward the end, as the last wrestling match and baseball game died way, it was the concensus that the 1973-1974 yell leaders were the best in the school. ,- Q ww
