Drake i'i.'i L To The Class of 19671 Samohi has attempted during the post three years to ignite in each of you a living flame which would provide the light to guide this great class of 1967 in its iourney into adulthood. Upon your arrival on this campus as sophomores, you brought with you the desire to learn, the wish to become a part of the spirit, and the willing- ness to assume responsibilities-the spark was there, but it smouldered' and and smoked and did not burn. As this great faculty gently generated this spark into a glow, and then a flame, the class spirit grew, and our rich traditions become meaningful and lasting. Your leaders filled Samohi's positions ofggovernment ond responsibility. Your scholars and athletes strengthened and carried forward the reputation- of our school. And now at the completion of your high school career, you prepare to let the light you have created shine far out into your future to lead you on to new and finer accomplishments. We, your teachers and administrators, are proud of the part we have played in helping you to discover the fuel within yourselves which makes your lights burn steadily and brightly, It is our hope that the impact of our association with you will inspire you to help ignite in others the love and desire to serve this school, which your class may now proudly call your alma mater. Vice-Principal Porter I. Leach Mn. .. Mr. Porter Leach cmd his secretory, Mrs. Betty Gruber ln this year of celebration of our diamond anniversary, we look back on our first 75 years and recall many of the fine traditions that have grown with the passing generations of students who have walked Indian Hill. It was a small group of worried student leaders who printed our first Nautilus yearbook in 1907 and our Samohi newspaper in 1913. These were followed later by the Boys' League of 1927 who furthered the tradition of our school. Our athletes have been noted throughout Southern California for their outstanding teams and the type of sportsmanship that is the outgrowth of a loyal student body and a dedicated coaching staff. ln recent years, our sports program has been expanded to include many new sports and divisions within these sports. The physical plant has grown from a small single building with a few students to our present multi-building campus that houses our present student body. Even as we look to the past for our heritage, we must also look to the future for growth. No one can predict what the next 75 years will bring, but it is indeed the hope of the present that Samohi will continue to be the Ubest and most outstanding to the thousands of students who will travel the halls, who will be in the stands for our games, and who will march across our Greek Theater in graduation.
