Later in the semester, the class sold cake and mistletoe. A class bulletin board called the Sophomore Shingle, and the class scrapbook helped Sophomore A president, Terry Holberton, keep his class on its toes. This class has had a successful year, living and learning the traditions that make Samohi great. The Winter Class of '61 elected its officers at its first class meeting. Serving as president was Denny Pringle. Assisting him were Carrie Bulling, Vice- President, Barbara Lahey, Secretary, and Bruce Snyder, Treasurer. The first official duty of the class was to choose its senior sweater and emblem. A contest was held for designs for the emblem. White with navy blue trim was chosen and one design was chosen out of fift . Xfhe meetings of the class have been filled with discussion on future plans. Senior activities and the Senior Play have been discussed and various com- mittees set up. June terminates a highly successful year for the Senior B's. Sophomores 5. W3 f , Leighton Chen, Treasurerg Judie Holdren, Secretaryg Kit Colberg, Vice-Presidentg and Terry Holberton President ' The Juniors under John Scott started the Fall Semester with the sale of football programs, getting the Football Season off with a bang. The money collected from the sales was going in to the treasury for the coming Senior Prom-the theme Moon- light and Roses. Plans and more plans, the Juniors worked like crazy for the success of the Prom. The Senior Prom was a big success. The Junior Class accomplished all their planned goals making it a successful year. n The Spring Juniors started collecting money immediately for the coming Prom, by having a Saturday Car Wash. During the spring months the Juniors had many class meetings at noon to make the final all- important plans for the J unior-Senior Prom, titled Beyond the Sea. The highly successful prom was held on May 27 at the Riviera Country Club. Couples danced in a tropical aura designed by Juniors.
