Mighty Vikings of Winter '56 Upon entering Samohi the mighty Vikings of W'56 voiced their arrival by taking an immedi- ate and active part in campus life - sponsoring a faculty luncheon, carrying out an ice cream sale, and a successful cake sale. During their Junior year the class kept in step with their money raising schedule by selling pro- grams at football games, hosting a second fac- ulty luncheon, and sponsoring an after-game dance. These functions raised the money that went into the successful production of the Senior Prom South Seas which was held at the Deau- ville Club. Leading the winter warriors in the first semes- ter of their Senior year were: Terry Tondro, President, Larita Brown, Vice-President, Carol Ann Clayton, Secretary, and Shirley Walker, Treasurer. Important activities of this semester included: the choosing of Senior sweater emblem and color, a car wash, and the Senior Play Ghost Train featuring Rendie Lu Anderson, Carol Horton, and Ken Smith. Donning their aqua sweaters as Senior A's, the class elected Rendie Lu Anderson, President, Karen Horn, Vice-President, Bobbie Leverett, Sec- , X . retary, and Betty Huntsman, Treasurer. Other important offices held by Senior A's are on the A.S.B. Cabinet, Lauren Reager, President, Judy Coleman, President of Girls' League, Don Drake, Commissioner of Boys' Athletics, Ken Smith, Com- missioner of Entertainment, Carol Horton, Com- missioner of Publications, and Charles English, Commissioner of Safety and Health. Rendie Lu Anderson dolled up in a football uniform to play the lead in the hilarious Senior Play Time Out For Ginger. This story of a feminine football player and her speech-writing father was termed the best comedy that Samohi has produced in several semesters. The Riviera Country Club was the scene of the breath-taking Senior Prom, Winter Wonder- land. The music of Tommy Jones and his Or- chestra provided the perfect background for the coronation of Judy Haley and Val Hoy as Queen and King of the event. As they walked across the stage to receive their diplomas. Samohi bid adieu to these mighty Vikings and filed the impressive records of this class in her book of memories. Mr. Brooks, Sponsor, Bobbie Leverett, Secretary, Betty Hunts- man, Treasurer, Karen Horn, Vice-President, Rendie Lu Ander- son, President. ROY F ALLEN Cross Country Photography JERRY B. ANDERSON
