Administrative Helpers Adorning the principal's office are two busy beavers rMrs Ethel Morse and Mrs, Mary Martinezi who are in charge of master calendar schedules, substitute teachers, and various problems of students and teachers alike. Lost anything? Ask Mrs. Pat Morefield in the Dean's office. The lost and found is one of her many responsibilities in addi- tion to doing secretarial work for Boys' and Girls' Leagues. Mrs. Marion Skelton, Mr. Day's secretary, is responsible for the most popular publication on campus-the blue bulletin. Checking student eligibility, handling student body elections and money drives are two other common duties. Bz-z-z, b-zhz-z. Nothing on campus is as familiar among the classroom sounds as the buzz of the telephone or P.A. system. Mrs. Dorothy Dandurand is the voice on the end of that buzz. Records of the good grades made by Samohi students are filed in the Registration Office by Mrs. Louis Palenno and Mrs, Vivienne Stephenson, Where and why are the two most common words with Mrs. Lelo Williams, Mrs, Mildred Deon, and Mrs. Mary G. Field of the Attendance Office, Samohi's missing-persons depart- ment. Students who have lost their locker keys or text books turn to Mrs. June Johnson for help in replacing them, These indus- trious workers in the free text also tackle the iob of passing out the books at the beginning of each semester. Our very capable nurse, Miss Lillie May Green, is ready, willing, and able to cure all aches and pains of the Samohi Vikings. The credit for our beautiful and tidy campus belongs to our efficient maintenance staff: James F, Tysl, senior head custodian, Felix R, Ontiveros, junior head custodian, the cus- todians-Harry M. Hager, Harold A. Bowden, Edward Saxby, Thomas Strouther, Lemuel J. Flore, Rueben Russell, Alfred Van Tine, Leonard W. Beard, the matrons-Rose Atkins, Hattie Naglehoutg the gardeners-Clifford V. Younger, Werner Heu- bel, David Wilder, Jr., Edwin P. Argast, John Peter Alessi, and Tim Bunner. Holding the purse strings of Samohi is Mrs. Burk in the Business Office. Helping clubs with their bookkeeping and main- taining a smooth running Vikes' Inn are two factors of her everyday duties.
