T The festivities began as the Homecoming Court was chauffeured around Dave Boyd Field toward the awaiting crowd. Excited and nervous about the evenings events, the six prospective queens were escorted across the fifty yard line. The Homecoming candidates were Heather Brough. Wanda Carithers, Martha Laurel, Crystal Miller, Kathy Silva, and Elizabeth Uvalle. These young ladies were finalists in a competition that called for grace. charm, intelligence, and personality. The candidates were deemed best qualihed to represent Santa Mario High School by a panel of . football players who screened the numerous applications. After screening, thenchallenge began. Excitement mounted as the candidates acquired sponsors among the many active clubs on campus. . Posters appeared overnight and floats began to take shape. Early Friday morning last minute touches were made and T costumes donned for the rally procession. Following the rally festivities voting took place. Friday night football excitement added to the days activities made for an evening of enjoyment. At the end of the evening, Crystal Miller received the coveted crown, traditionally presented by Elvira lnsilan, -1985-86 Homecoming Queen.
