Upiile, 1 ili Training Aids in Job Placement Our business department offers us suitable training so that we can find and hold down jobs in the busi- ness field. There are three types of majors offered for those preparing for business employment. These are accounting. stenography and retailing, There rs ere no retailing courses open this year as we lacked facilities for them. For our accounting major. we were trained in the procedure of recording business transactions. and learned how to construct and analyze financial statements. A working knowledge of pay roll and Social Security accounting was empha- sized. Learning to operate modern bookkeeping :nachines was an important part of this course. With basic' requirements ol' business lowered during the war. our business department set up a curricula to give stenography majors a thorough course in typing and shorthand.
