Our Needs After Graduation Considered The establishing of our graduation requirements and approving of the petitions of prospective grad- uates are a few of the many duties of our Adminis- trative Council. This group, meeting weekly, acts as a clearing house for all internal school policies. Mat- ters concerning the opening and closing of school, registration, examinations and others of this nature are acted upon by this representative organization. Graduation requirements adopted in june, 19-44, by this group have been continued through the year. To graduate, we must have met the following re- quirements: we must have earned 200 units of work' taken courses required by law, had suitable instruc- tion on manners and morals, fire prevention, public safety and accident prevention, made at least 120 units with grade C or betterg 45 units earned in the senior year, 30 units of which are C or betterg or a grand total of 130 units of C or better in the four years of high school work. When graduation requirements were adopted, sev- eral years were given to put them completely into operation. With next years graduation class, the ful- fillment of a major earned in one field will be re- quired. Subjects taken in the four years of high school will follow a pattern, rather than be a hodgepodge of various courses.

Math Returns to Prominence The war has brought mathematics back into importance. Graduates have found that technical training in the armed forces required the use of a great deal of math they never thought they would need. The scientific world of the future will demand even more knowledge of this subject. ln General Math, our weaknesses were corrected and fundamental skills of arithmetic reviewed. The world of mathematical unknowns was discovered in first and second year Algebra. Geometry, Solid Ge- ometry and Trigonometry dealt with the study of angles and solids. All will aid our thinking and reasoning power. Above. Mr. vl. falxin Funk. mathematics and science division chairman, geome-tr5 algebra, trigonometry. Science, lllatlnematicaf P epar Helow.
