Among their group were: Nora Mae David, Odie Ray Davidson, Jake Filer, Margie Mae Hepler, Dorothy Jean Meek, John Moore, Deloris Rush, Albert Schulze, and Margie Unger. when the students from the Alta Loma and Arcadia schools were combined in the eighth grade, seven new students perma- nently joined our class. They were: Jackie Berry, R. G. Ann Jacob, Mary Helen Pourchot, Donald Still, Cecil Walker, Effie Lee Westmoreland and Johnny Fuerst. Margaret Conklin joined our class- in the Freshman year. Mrs. Neve was prevailed upon the sponsor the group. Class parties and the girl' S Slumber party were the social high- lights of the year. The Sophomore year was enriched by beach parties and hikes, under the sponsorship of the beloved English teacher of the our the our for previous year. Billy Hale's presence added interest to group. Our Junior year was indeed memorable because we sponsored annual carnival and succeeded in electing Deloris Rush for queen. It was a grand success, from it we received funds sponsoring the Junior-Senior Banquet. The Buccaneer Hotel provided the background for this stately event. Mrs. Robinson was our class sponsor. The Senior year arrived at last! Jack Clark's name was added to the class roll, along with two G.I.'s, Alton Walker and our Robert Saunders. Mrs. Edmondson kindly consented to be sponsor. Words are inadequate to express the joy and satis faction that went with the class activities - the rings, the Alumni Reception, t-he annual, the class play, the trips, and the parties 1 CLASS WILL We, the Senior Class of 1947, of Santa Fe High School, do hereby make publish and declare this to be our last will and testa- ment, hereby revoking all former xwills and codicils by us at any time heretofore made. Mary Helen Pourchot, after having gone with a preacher's grandson, has finally decided to marry Pretty Boy Floyd, who sa.nk her heart with a sinker for her finger - three carats, to be exact! Jack Clark, who is now broken hearted, has become a missionary and has gone to Africa. There he may be found making love to all the little Mongolian morons who haven't the faintest idea what a diamond is. Margaret Conklin has finally married Leon. She is the proud mother of seven little Morehead Juniors. She can't bear to call the precious lit- tle gems anything but Leon l Odie Davidson has finally become a famous surgeon. He has made only four G R A V E mistakes up to date and has ruined two perfectly good oper- ating tables. Look out Dr. Kildare, here comes competition! Margie Hepler and Effie Lee Westmoreland, profiting from Santa Fe's Home Economic Department, are treating their husbands like gods, Cthree burnt offerings a dayl. Billy Hale is now running a busline from Hitchcock to the Metropolis of Arcadia. He started it after the Waves rolled into Camp Wallace. John Moore suddenly took an interest in shorthand and is personal sec- retary to all ,the governors of Georgia, and I do mean all - Dorothy Meek is now holding a very important political office at the corner of Hollywood and Vine. She is chief dog catcher. Vernon Moore has the big-head over having been called Tyrone Power. He now has a contract with Paramount emptying spittoons in the cocktail lounge. Jake Filer, having married a certain Junior, is now putting up with the ways of life Cor womenl. Juanita Hungerford and Marie Unger are now running an Institution of Broken Hearts , because their own were broken when Johnny Fuerst picked Nora Mae David instead of one of than. R. G. Ann Jacob has finally gotten her man. She won't tell us who he is, but we have an idea his name is Donald Still. Rosalie Moody liked playing poker and shooting craps so much she has decided to make a profession of them. She is now called the Crap Shooting Queen of Broadway . Admiral Walker, if you please. Buddy fAlton P. Walker, liked the Navy so much he has made a career out of it. During the 1967-70 war all the commanders were under his orders. Deloris Rush is a beauty queen. She won last year's Miss America title. Her contract with MGM was a flop beca11se.she could not act worth a I-loot . Tiny Walker is now running New York' s Beauty Salon. Women just can- not understand why their hair does not resemble 'Tiny's after their new wave. Bill Flaniken is a famous lawyer and specializes in divorce cases. He has handled seven of Jackie Berry's without charge. He hopes to win her admiration and then marry her. Each time he gets her divorced she sees one twice as rich as the last. Bill' s policy is lf at first you do not suc- ceedg cry, cry again . -Au To GRP-PHS Of 'af f77aff. ' fteafil ' 534 H ,,,,,, . This gave us confidence for the next game with Pearland. The odds were against us in every respect for they had heavier- and more experienced players. Coach Behringer couldn't see it that way, and for a week preced- ing the game he put the boys through in practice, and all the while impressed upon their minds the thought that they must win. We lost! It was a very deciding score, 36 to O. Santa Fe next tangled with Addicks High at Santa Fe. It was a very exciting game with Santa Fe com:i.ng out on top. The final score was Santa Fe 18, Addicks 12. Next was Danbury. We went to Danbury with high hearts, and with a lot of determination. They were entirely too heavy for our team! The score was 31-12 in favor of Danbury. The Danbury victory aroused the Indian'S determination and when Friendswood came down the next Friday, it was pretty sad for them. The Mustangs did their best, but of course, that was not good enough. We lost our last three games to Missouri City, League City, and Sweeny. They were all hard-fought games. To Coach Behringer goes the credit of having out a well- coached, disciplined, and fighting team. No game was played in wlfich we did not do our best. The .Squad was pehind the boys in every game thy played. , The leaders were active all year and not just at the games, but they were there behind the bqys in every thing they did. The pep rallies before each game put the minds of all Santa Fe students in a spirit of eager anticipation for the games. Their sponsor, Mrs. Teena Franks, showed the Indian spirit that only a true sponsor canshow. 4 3 I Waffsyfaff guna! ,N ,... . .1 .Rf 1 'q,1 ' L.........,X -qv... .. . ., ,.., X N-, .am K .N Q vw, . This material developed hastily, and Mrs. Franks was soon ready with a team com- posed of Effie Lee Westmoreland, Captaing Nora Mae David, Marie Unger, Jackie Berry, Wanda Chesshir, and R. G. Ann Jacob. There were six other girls vieing for a place on the squad, namely: Margie Mae Hepler, Deloris Rush, Ar- megine Carter, Mary Catherir1e Sckittone, Mary Helen Pour- chot, Connie Dodds, and Rosie Moore. December 15, was a sad day for all the boys and girls of Santa Fe. Mary Lou Denny, an athlete who had personali- ty plus all the characteristics of sportsmanship, was forced to leave for another school. This was quite a disappointing loss for the Volleyball Team. The team went to their first tournament Saturday, Feb- ruary 8, at League City. The honor accorded Santa Fe's team was consolation prize. We received a beautiful trophy'. Ef- fie Lee Westmoreland was named on the All-Tournament Team. This was the first silver volleyball that Effie Lee won. She won another at Galena Park and a gold one at our tournament. Her pride and joy was the volleyball awarded her for being on the All-District Team. The team won second place in our tournament. We are equally proud of our other All-Tournament play- ers. Jackie Berry, a four year letterman, won All Tournament honors at Dickinson, to add to the three she won during pre- vious years. R. G. Ann Jacob, still another All-Tournament Player, won her first volleyball at the Missouri City Tourna- ment. The girls played scheduled games with Klein and Galena Park. noon GOING, GIRLS! -R'-.
