T U a - 1'.:5,, Santa Fe's first challenge was against St. Iolm Bosco, 1974 C.I.F. 2nd place team, with Fred Ford All-American nmning back. The offense camel alive and the defense throttled Ford and the Chiefs opened 1975 with a 21-20 heanstopping win over Bosco. Bosco's bid for victory ended 5 inches short of the goal line as they tried for two points following their last touchdown. The Second game was against St. Paul who were rated 31 in C.I.F. The defense held St. Paul to 6 points in the first half and 7 in the Second. The chiefs offense cou1dn't put things together due largely to 115 yards in penalties accessed against them. The final result was a disappointing 13-0 to St. Paul. The first league game was against our arch rival Pioneer. Pioneer was really up for this game, they were 0-2 going into this contest. At half time the score Pioneer - 10 Santa Fe - 7 was a team of desperation. Coach Malstede delivered a speech that fired up the team to win the game. Final score Santa Fe - 20 Pioneer - 10. The second league game was against California. The Chiefs were Sky high and Cal Hi was no contest. Along with the Homecoming Court, Santa Fe looked upon their victorious team with a final score of 28-0 . The third league game was against Sierra. Our shutout was spoiled when Siena scored with one minute left on the clock. Final score Santa Fe - 31 Sierra - 7. l. N f sw mr '..u v'

'ww S -1, 9,1 '11 mfg 'WL The fourth game was for the championship and La Sema was undefeated and rated 11th in C.l.F. , Santa Fe was undefeated in league and rated 6th in C.I.F. The Chiefs were ready for a tough test of their ability. The game began with a 45 yard gain by La Sema against a mistake by the Chiefs. La Sema Q.B. in the end zone for a safety and was followed a few minutes later by a T.D. Half time La Sema - '7 Santa Fe - 9. Second half was a seesaw battle until La Sema intercepted a pass and ran it to the two yard line. Two plays later the score was La Sema - 15 Santa Fe - 9. With 3 minutes to go the Chiefs were on the La Sema's ten yard line and Santa Fe threatening. The drive ended as the go ahead touchdown pass was knocked from Santa Fe's receiver. The final score ended with a disappointing La Sema - 15 Santa Fe - 9. Montebello was the next opponent and they were totfgh and in contention. That night the offense got on track and the super Chief rolled up 42 points while the defense gave up 28. Kevin Hamilton tied the record for passing yardage in this Offensive show. Whittier was the 6th league game. Prior to this contest, Hamilton gave each offensive lineman one of his hatchets to thank them for their protection against Montebello. The offense responded with a 45-6 win over Whittier. Monte Vista was the C381 league game. Monte Vista wanted to win this game as revenge for the '74 loss to the Chiefs and a possible play off birth. The Chiefs were ready for the test and were victorious 25-8. The Chiefs final record was '7 wins 2 losses . Santa Fe enter C.l.F. competition for the 5th consecutive year. Their next opponent would be St. Bernard, the Camino Real League Champs with an 8-1 record. R t
