allude Santa Fe Hugh School opened In September, 1955, and with the grand opening came Mr Herbert G. May, our Assistant Principal of Guidance and Counseling. Mr. May attended Gettys- burg College and San Francisco State. He is a Social Science maior, having minored in Eng- llsh and he has his Master of Arts Degree. Mr. Nay s family numbers four in all, he has one son and one daughter, and Mrs. May teaches in the East Whittier Elementary School Dis- trlct. Way back when, Mr. May partici- pated in football and track. Ice skating, fishing, and reading are included in his hobbies. It is also said that he is quite a connoisseur of fine restaurants and fine foods. Mr. May's ready smile and helpful ways have made students feel they're always welcome to come to him or the Guidance Office for aid with their academic problems. He is constantly encouraging students to do better, to try for scholarships, and to seek higher education by attending college. Although Mr.' May is one of the busiest men on campus, he al- ways takes time to listen to a prob- lem, give a word of advice, or say a word of praise and encouragement. It can truthfully be said, Mr. May, you are more than our Assistant Prin- cipal. You are our friend. ...We
