Larson, Principal, we dedicate the 1958 Legend. In his three years of dedicated work he has shown genuine interest and sincerity in making Santa Fe what it is. Through his fruitful planning, guidance, and work, Santa Fe has grown in size, spirit, knowledge, and accomplishments. In the past years as Santa Fe grew in size, he has lead us in the building pro- gram. By leading and counselling with teachers and administrators he has help- ed us grow in knowledge. By supporting many activities and competitive events, he has helped us grow in spirit. Under his strong leadership we have gained acknowledgement in many fields. As he continually puts out his efforts to help Santa Fe grow, he helps us to set the high standards we are noted for. For these reasons and many more, we dedicate the T958 Legend to Mr. Larson. We hope that with his continued leader- ship we may continue to make these achievements and maintain the high standards he has helped us set. It is difficult to predict now what that event will mean to your future. But what you have accomplished during your three years at Santa Fe, will determine how well you have prepared yourself for the space age. We hope that your background of technical information will serve you well throughout your life, but we hope that you have learned other lessons as well. For the measure of a school is not dependent solely upon classroom learning. The things you have learned on the athletic field, in campus social life, and in your activities are equally vital. My wish for you is success and a full and happy life. Success is a combin- ation of technical skill and an understanding of the duties of citizenship and the responsibility each of us has for his fellow man. lf you have learned these things during your three years at Santa Fe, your school has served you welll That you have served your school well is clear from the outstanding record of accomplishments reviewed throughout this book. Vice President, has worked hard to accomplish a better working student body.'He organized a club council that consists ot all club presidents. This is the group that will become the Senate under an amendment proposed this year. He has represented Santa Fe by attending the Cali- fornia Associated Student Council, district and San Gabriel League meetings. A.S.B. President Bob Amstutz as President led the Associated Students ot Santa Fe Through a very success- ful year. One of the most important things that Bob did was to propose an amendment that dealt with the A.S.B. congress. The amendment changed congress from a uni- cameral congress to bicameral congress. The bicameral congress will consist of the Senate and the House ot Representatives. The Sen- ate will consist of all the chartered club presidents, while the House of Representa- tives will consist of members from each basic course class. The amendment states that each house will have the power to propose laws tor the improvement of the school. Bob has accomplished a great deal for Santa Fe this year. fl, :mu .:. Each of Santa Fe's foes knew that they had to play a good game to win. The Chiefs won the Bronze Football Shoes in a close 14-13 victory over the Bell Gardens Lancers in a yearly contest. One ot Santa Fe's most outstanding players Mario Mendez, halfback was picked All League Player. The building of the house is the proiect of the Vocational Carpentry class under the di- rection of Mr. Davies. lt was designed by Architectural Drawing student Larry Heimbuck. - E The dedication of our pools was an important event in the life of the school. The pools were dedicated to the student body on March l, 1958. During the program examples of how the pools will be used were given by our swimming team and the Aqua Deas, a profes- sional swimming group, Acknowledgments Looking over the pages of our annual, we're re- minded of the many people who make possible such a publication. We're grateful to all of them and could never thank them enough. What would our year book be without pictures? Much time was spent filling the pages with pictures: general pictures, the J. Edmund Watson Studio, sports shots, Mr, T. llO Snyder, Kerval King, and Jerry Haas, some of the pictures for the pages 4 and llO, Mr. Frank White. We'd also like to thank the Activities Office who made arrangements for Senior picture appointments, and last but not least, Yearbooks, Incorporated of California for publishing our annual, and the S, K. Smith Company for making the covers. 5-gi dm 1 ,-,W ' . L T 1:15 T . Yi-'M yy 4 1 A A iourney of a Thousand rniies begins wiTh The TirsT sTep.
