Waverly, Missouri November 13, 1974 Dear Elnora: I'm happy to hear about your third set of twins, but very sorry you couldn't attend the reunion gf the Class of '54. Rayman said that Ronnie was adding a room to the house for the new addition to the family. Speaking of Raymon, he was just elected sheriff of Lafayette County. During his campaign, he promised if he was elected he would crack down on all of the drunken drivers One of his slogans was If you must buy alcohol, put it in your car and not your stomach- He is also very strict with teenage drivers who are careless with the speed law. - It sure surprised me about Anna Mae and Raymon. 1 never dreamed it possible that she would give up her love life to become a missionary in Africa. The auditorium was beautifully decorated in our Senior colors, green and white. The Seniors did the artistic decorating which was supervised by the principal. I suppose you know that John was given a principal's ten year contract by the school board. Buddy had the school looking spic and span for the reunion. He said he enjoys his job as painter. I wish you could have seen Clark Neal, he looked very distinguished with his mus- tache and goatee. He has really changed from the boy we went to school with to the pro- fessor of English at Oxford University. After all these years he has finally forgotten Bernice and is marrying the Countess Von Krout of Germany. Did you know that Donna was in Hollywood making a movie about the life of Gypsy .Rose Lee, entitled Take Off ? Be sure and try to see it. LeRoy came up from his stables, The Stoney Stables .in Kentucky to attend the reunion. He has been very prosperous since his horse Pretty Patty won the Kentucky Derby last spring. He has had quite a lot of success with both his race and show horses. Helen and Gene Celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary the night of the reunion. They had to hire two baby sitters for their ten children at home fall girlsj. Gene is doing very well on their 2.80-acre farm east of Grand Pass. Coonie is helping his brother 'on the farm since retiring this fall from the pitching staff. of the winning World Series team, the St. Louis Cardinals. Friday night he told us he Pltchefl 41 no hit games in his 10-year career. He was the rookie of the year in 195 8, the most valuable player in 61 and 62. His son, Connie Jr., is a promising baseball player. FYCIYH did H019 Seem to WOTTY much about her husband who is the leader of the first expedition to the moon. The buildings on Washington Street were converted into an apple business. The people of Waverly are trying to have the town's name changed to Appleton. The high school has really been modernized. They now have atomic heating, un- bvreakable windows, an up-to-date library, and the school has expanded to almost four times the original size. This was all brought about by the tireless efforts of John. As we were eating, Helen suddenly remembered that twenty-one years ago. to the day we received our class rings. It brought tears to7many eyes as we recalled the won- derful times we had at good ole S. F. H. S- t - Can you get station KCMO ? If you can, be sure and listen to Pat's new program, Music With Pat. It consists of popular music with Kay Clark as vocalist. Here come the children in from school. My husband will soon be home from the office and I haven't even begun supper.
