When we were Frosh, it was a very good year CLASS OF 1968 ... sure sounds good, doesn't it? ... but it seemed like a long way off, back there in '65 when we entered those sacred gates as trembling Freshmen We were the babies then and no one would let us forget it We made friends fast by dancing our way into S.C.'s heart at the Freshman Reception given in our honor by the Sophomores ... What a thrill it was to buy a student body card .., go to the night games ... and yell with the rest, SC IS KING Excitement hit the campus as our very first Class Elections came up .., Pat Galos took over the leadership of our new class with Cliff Henderson VP and Linda Chandler Secretary- Treasurer ... What a year ... Soon Homecoming sprang up to meet us head-on ... ribbons buttons, block sweaters, and activities filled our nights and days SC was alive and vibrant with action ... until ... Disaster . .. we were defeated at the Big Game ... but came back with the faithful line ... Wait till next year Between the frenzy of life and the fright of finals we tried to study . .. Who could forget Pip and Great Expectations or Myths and Their Meanings . , . Our first year rushed by leaving us more a part of SC with each day and hour ... by Easter Vacation we had about learned the way of things and were ready for the fast trip over the hill to Cruz . .. Did we ever believe it would be so wild? ... It ended all too soon and once again it was back to the grind back to homework and tests ... The Class of '65 was finally beginning to make plans for their graduation We envied them getting out of school ... how little we knew . .. our turn was coming faster than any of us could suspect . .. The last week of school we were presented our first TOCSIN ... How great it all seemed ... Next year would be greater than ever we knew it had to be. Y, M SOPHOMORES We had been promoted one notch and it sure felt good to get out from under the Seniors thumbs . .. We knew our way around now and so just smiled when we saw a poor freshman ... Remember . , , that was the yearthe girls took over ... We elected an all-girl executive board ,.. Linda Chandler, President, Nancy Lawton VP and Sue Souza, Secre- tary-Treasurer ... The upperclassmen laughed .,, but we showed them by soon becoming strong in all we did ... We beat the Seniors at competition rallies and found we were developing into the best class SC had ever seen ... We did our homework .., at least, sometimes ... and swung into social action ... Football and Spirit Week was exasperating but exciting ... We beat Buchser and were awaken with the fact that we were KING ... that was the year we were awarded with our very own dance, the Basket-Ball ... Of'course there was always studying to be done .., Juluis Caesar and The Tale of Two Cities ,,. but the year disappeared ,.. We attended our second Nominating Convention and joined in the confusion there ... Again graduation surrounded us but we were on the outside .., TOCSINS were distributed and we set out to get as many autographs as possible and then there was sum- mer.
